The story of Codiac Printing Inc. has had some twists and turns through the years, having it’s roots in a small print shop in downtown Moncton in 1989. The operation was relocated to Macdougall Settlement in 1992 to a small building on a historic farm property with 5 employees and a 4500 square ft shop. It specialized in vinyl cut signage and screen printing. Over the next few years it acquired and absorbed a local, family-run, offset printing operation whose experienced employees were “raised in the trade” (and are still with Codiac today). Fast forward a few years and Codiac acquires a local traffic/municipal signage company and absorbes 10 employees with years of experience and a significant clientel. As times and technology evolve, so does the company, adding a large format digital print department (flat bed, roll fed, UV and solvent inks), high end computers and the latest design software.
As with any expanding family, space becomes a commodity and the building footprint is increased with major expansion, renovations and modernizations. By 2005, the little shop is barely recognizable as the 30,000 sq ft operation houses a dedicated department for every kind of printing (screen, offset, vinyl, digital), Icut, an art department, in-house IT, and sales. With all of this growth, the constant through the years has been our founder, Richard Wilson, who still sits at the helm as General Manager of today’s operation (under the ownership of Brian Donaghy of Moncton, who bought and renamed the company in 2009) . Richard’s exceptional ability to embrace change, even through the economic rollercoaster and technological explosion of our times, is, in large, the reason for the endurance of the print company, known today as Codiac Printing Inc.
